  • Sanya~Sunshine & Beach

Probably sunburn and beach for me, but it was a relaxing trip after working 2 weeks in Shanghai on the online assessment system I promise to deliver. This trip wasn't planned at the beginning, It just happens when I heard my mother is going on a business trip to Sanya (三亞) and I ask her to let me tag along.

Sanya is a resort city located on the south tip of Hainan Island (海南島), the southern most city of China, with plenty of beaches and resort hotel, it has a tropical weather at around 28°C, which good place for relaxing and stop thinking about work.

We arrived at Sanya Feng Huang Airport on Sunday well over mid-night after the 4 hours (please refer to my last post) delay back in Shanghai. The other day I swam at the resort's pool and went for a walk along the beach, I cannot say Sanya has the most beatiful beaches I ever saw, but the clear sky and blue sea are definitely inspiring.

Day 2 I rented a bike from my hotel and took it to Cape Tian Ya Hai Jiao. Since my hotel and the cape are both near the water, I cycle all the way along the coast, the journey was most enjoyable while seasoned with plenty of sunshine and breeze with a salty scent of the sea.

    My Bike

Cape Tian Ya Hai Jiao (天涯海角), is two piece big rock with the word Tian Ya (天涯) and Hai Jiao (海角) engraved onto them respectively, the reason that they are called the "The end of the world" is because in ancient times this is a common place for dropping of exiles, when the criminals find themselves looking at the endless ocean at the south end of the Island and no where to escape, they called the place Tian Ya Hai Jiao, in fact it does not geographically has the lowest altitude of China . Built around the two stones is a park so that the local government can charge entry fee from visitor, the full fare is RMB65, but with a student card you can get a RMB30 discount. Inside the park there are also beaches where visitors can rent gears for water activites such as scuba diving, or hire a speed boat to those outlying islands.

Do they think we cannot do addition and multiplication?

I spend my last day swimming and sun-bathing. After I checked out I wrote my diary on the beach while waiting for my returning flight back to Shanghai. Then I will go back to Hong Kong and then UK.

Although Sanya is a famous tourist attraction, in fact there are very little places for sightseeing, most people came just for relaxation. Of course if you want to go see something else rather than beaches there are a 180ft? Guanyin Statue (觀音像) and a Tiger Crocodile Zoo, however I personally think not worth going. I spend most of my time enjoying the sunshine and the spectacular sea view, relaxing myself. One thing I find it very annoying is that there is nothing to eat around the resort, while my hotel is located at Sanya Bay, the furthest one away from city centre, I am force to spend my money on those expensive hotel food or it will takes more than 30 mins to get to the city centre even by Taxi.
